WEBSITE UPDATE

Hello All: My website is back up now. I just changed hosting providers to FATCOW and revamped some features like the Media, Gigs, Photo & Music Production sections with Widgets to provide better video, music, gig and photo content from ReverbNation, YouTube and Picasa.

Hope you like the new updates!

BRINGING YOU UP TO DATE

Just wanted to take a minute to update you all. I know it's been a minute.

I've been through some trying times in this economy but God is faithful and has provided for my needs. I've been using this time to worship at my local church and on my instrument and focus on the projects I've been blessed to do.

Here's what I've been up to:

An Ableton Live! endorsement deal with Ableton is in the works and I am stoked to have this honor.

I've started DMJK Productions (AKA Factor X Productions) with a partner and we have signed a talented, up and coming female artist to a development deal and will be producing 4 tracks for her that we are excited about.

A great thing about modern technology and the Internet is that it allows you the opportunity to work with many people internationally so, I'll be and tracking, programming and producing drums for several projects in the coming future. I love technology!

I'm excited about working with musician and producer Nate Schierman on some production and drum tracks for artists Sam Miller and Kelseylee Fleming as well as Nate himself.

My schedule has been filled the last few weeks with rehearsals with Gabe Rosales (Jennifer Lopez, Lynch Mob, Christina Milian) for his CD Release party. Gabe is a very gifted bassist and artist and I am honored to work with him.

Another gifted artist I am blessed to work with is Terron Brooks (Stephanie Mills, Smokey Robinson and Michael Jackson). He is releasing a new CD and we will be performing selections from his new CD for his CD Listening Party.

In between these events, I play with rock trio Hoochie Coo that features bassist , Francesco DiCosmo (Evanescence, Thin Lizzy, Chris Polland) and guitarist extraordinare Chris Hoochin. They have performed nearly 200 shows in and around L.A.

In a nutshell, I'm thankful and blessed to work with such talented people and look forward to the challenges and blessings this will bring in the future.

As always, I wish you the best in pursuit of your highest dream. Keep reaching and growing!

Peace!

Jon

NAMM 2009

Well, I went to NAMM and had a great time. There was so much to see and do. So, many new drum and cymbal companies coming up and so much good product.

It was also refreshing to be in the company of such wonderful musicians with such creativity. My bass player friend Romeo Williams and I kicked it with Marcus Miller and several other musicians that are legends in the music biz. (Note: If you are on Facebook you can see the clips of us kicking it on my page.)

I have posted some of my favorite pictures from the event below.

Special thanks to Pearl, Soultone, Vic Firth and PhatFoot for your support!

Peace to you and best wishes for this new year!

THE LOSS OF MY SISTER

My sister Sharon was the rock of our family. Her nickname, Sunshine, was more than fitting for she lifted up everyone around her and shined in our lives.

Thank you for all your prayers. Please continue to hold the family up, especially her husband, Kenneth. They were married for 30 years and his devastation is beyond words.

DOS NEGROS FIRST TRACK POSTED ON MYSPACE

Dos Negros is a project started by Kenny Merrell and Jon while hanging out together. Two musicians wanting to take a musical journey. Ignoring making music in a cookie cutting way. The two wanted to stretch out and create something interesting.

The love of drums, bass and melody inspired Ken and Jon to create their own sound. Before the first completed track Kenny past away. Jon continues the project in Kenny's honor and dedicates all his work to him.

Check this link for the newest song "Unta"!

MY NEPHEW KENNY "SPIKE" MERRELL PASSED AWAY

It is with great regret that I inform you that my nephew Kenneth Wayne Merrell II passed away of lung complications on Monday, March 27, 2006 at UCLA hospital due to lung complications.

He was in the hospital for nearly 3 months prior and was discharged to go home. After a week of what seemed to be a strong recovery, his lung collapsed and he was taken to the Emergency Room. He was then transferred to UCLA and before being admitted he passed Monday, March 27, 2006.

Please keep his family in prayer. Kenny was 27 years old and he leaves behind a wife, two daughters and a son.

Thanks to everyone who was and is still praying for the family. We greatly appreciate it and believe that God taking Kenny home was part of his perfect plan.
